A native of Mexico, Alfredo de Villa has lived in the United States for over 20 years. Alfredo began his career by gaining a graduate degree in film from Columbia University in New York City.
His first film, Washington Heights (with Bobby Cannavale, Tomas Milian, Danny Hoch, Jude Cicollela, co-written with Pulitzer prize-winner fiction writer Junot Diaz) premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival where it was bought and distributed by Lionsgate. His third film Adrift in Manhattan (with Heather Graham, Billy Baldwin, Victor Rasuk, Elizabeth Peña, Screen Media) premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival in Dramatic Competition.
In 2009 Alfredo directed Nothing Like the Holidays (with Alfred Molina, Debra Messing, Luis Guzman, Freddie Rodriguez, Jay Hernandez) for Overture Films. Roger Ebert said of Alfredo’s work on that film, “the actors are good at something that seems almost impossible, all talking at high energy and interrupting one another, as if they really have known one another very well for a long time. This cannot come easily and may take more of a knack than heavy drama”. His most recent film Fugly (with John Leguizamo and Rosie Perez) is based on Leguizamo’s successful one man show and premiered in November, 2014.
Over the years in film, television and commercials Alfredo has worked with tons of Latin Celebrities, like Sofia Vergara, Salma Hayek, John Leguizamo, Alfred Molina, Freddy Rodriguez, Jay Hernandez, Luis Guzman, Bobby Cannavale, Eddie Olmos, Juan Manuel Marquez, Cesar Millan, among others. Recently his work for Milk won Bronze in the San Sebastian International Advertising Festival as well as Gold from USHIdeas. His work for Harley-Davidson also won Gold from USHIdeas.
Alfredo has also directed television work for NBC-Comcast (Telemundo and Mun2), Discovery Channel and PBS. He directed second unit in THE BRIDGE for F/X and showrunner Elwood Reid.

Alfredo lives with his Irish wife and their three children in Los Angeles, CA. Yes, they visit Ireland and Mexico regularly.
